a capacity to become more

This body of work began while I was living in Big Sky Country. The American West is gorgeous, vast, and awe-inspiring, yet it carries a sense of unease; the horizon is a constant presence, both prominent and perpetually out of reach. I often felt small in its shadow.

In Kansas, where this work was completed, the horizon appears more attainable, serving as a halfway point between the sea and the sky. The expansive blues exemplify this liminal space, evoking themes of distance, hope, and longing. Embracing hope also means embracing distance, and within that uncertainty lies the potential for transformation.
